Meet Alicia
Hey there! My name’s Alicia and I’m a travel blogger and photographer from the UK.
I’ve been doing this as my full-time job since October 2023, when my partner Manu and I decided to quit our jobs and travel the world as digital nomads (more on that story below).
It’s safe to say I’m passionate about exploring as much of our world as possible, but in a way that prioritises slow travel and really making the most of each destination. To that end, I’ve also created some digital nomad guides for fellow full-time travellers who are looking for places to visit and stay for around a month or more.
I hope you find these travel tips and recommendations useful, I like to think of these guides as if I was writing them for a friend – so they include all the very best information I can possibly think of!
My Full Time Travel Story
Until October of 2023, I lived in the beautiful city of Bath and worked as a biologist full-time. Then, in October, my partner and I quit our jobs and sold almost everything we owned to become digital nomads. We left with just a suitcase and a backpack each.
Since then, we’ve travelled to around eight countries (as of July 2024!) with the plan of staying in each location for about a month.
We both work almost full-time hours and travel with a mindful eye on budget. Currently, we spend much less per month than we were while living in the UK.
So, how did we get here?
It was an idea we had been considering for a few years, but it was more of a “what if” or “wouldn’t that be nice” concept until one day, my partner Manu said, “You know what? Let’s leave the UK before I turn 30, so now we have a definite goal.”
And that’s what we did.
A year and a half ago, I started to grow on socials and picked up work such as promoting travel brands, providing photography services to hotels/tourism boards, and monetising my website. It started to feel like I was juggling two full-time jobs, so I decided to leave my stable employment (which I loved) and pursue working for myself full-time, allowing me to travel and work remotely.
Why The Chaos Diaries?
To understand the reasoning behind my name, you’ll need to learn a few bits about me:
- I have ADHD so my brain is all over the place
- I don’t like to fit a specific travel niche because I love everything: adventure, luxury, mountains, cities – you name it!
- I like to write my posts like I’m talking to a friend, so you can consider these guides my diaries of travel
With those thoughts in mind, The Chaos Diaries was born! A mixture of destinations and travel styles in the hopes of helping people as chaotic as me.
