Asia
Asia is where our current chapter is being written. We started this leg of the journey in January 2025, and as I’m writing this in 2026 we’re still here, slow travelling our way through a continent that somehow manages to feel both vast and intimate at the same time. Days are shaped by small routines, a favourite café, a familiar train line, a market stall you return to, and then, just when life starts to feel settled, a border crossing shifts the language, the landscape, and the entire pace of the day.
“Asia makes the world feel beautifully wide”
Since that first start in Thailand, we’ve wandered through Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore, then down into Indonesia, before looping north to South Korea and Japan. Each country has felt like a different world entirely, not just in landscape, but in rhythm, in flavour, in the way you move through a day. Some places have been all energy and street noise, others have been calm and ordered, and the contrast is exactly what makes travelling here so addictive.
More recently, the journey has carried us into India, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Oman and Nepal, each one adding a new texture to the trip. There have been weeks that feel like a blur of colour and conversation, and others that slow right down, salt air and island evenings, mountain horizons and early starts. Asia has this rare ability to give you intensity and ease in the same season, sometimes in the same week.
This page is where I’m gathering our Asia travel guides as we go, the places we’ve loved, the routes that worked, and the practical details that make slow travel feel simple. If you’re planning your own trip, use this as your starting point, then follow the trail country by country. Chances are, Asia will do what it has done to us, pull you in, expand your sense of scale, and make you want to stay a little longer than you planned.
