As a full-time traveller and content creator, my camera gear is everything. It has to be lightweight, powerful, and versatile – something I can rely on no matter where I am in the world! Over the years, I’ve refined my setup to be as efficient as possible, ensuring I can capture stunning photos and videos while keeping my backpack manageable.
Recently, I made a big switch from Sony to Fujifilm, and I’m absolutely in love. The colours? Unreal. Fuji’s film simulations can give me cinematic, dreamy shots straight out of the camera, which means less editing and more time exploring fairytale places with the option still there to edit from RAW if I want to (and often, I do!).
One thing I’ve learned throughout my career is the importance of buying second-hand gear where possible. Not only is it more affordable, but it’s also better for the environment. How I Edit My Photos
Editing is just as important as capturing the shot. One of the best things about using Fujifilm is that I can either use the JPEG straight out of the camera or edit the RAW file for greater control.
P.s. my favourite film simulations are via Olsan Bilgi, with a special shout out to cubanace!
I do all my editing in Lightroom, where I often use presets from my collection as a starting point. From there, I make fine adjustments to exposure, contrast, and colours to match the mood of the shot. The flexibility of Fujifilm’s RAW files means I can push the edits while still retaining incredible detail and dynamic range.
Why I Switched from Sony to Fujifilm
Before Fuji, I used the Sony a6600 + Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8, and while it’s an amazing setup, I ultimately switched because:
Fuji’s film simulations – better colours straight out of camera
Lighter & more compact – easier for travel
Better manual controls – dials make shooting intuitive
More fun to use – makes photography feel creative again
That being said, the Sony a6600 is still a fantastic choice for travellers who prefer Sony’s system!
